- From the Watershed there are surprisingly few vouchers for Chenopodium album—only 7: Conejos Co, Cat Creek road (1983) and Osier Park (2004); Rio Grande Co, Rock Creek (1935) and the Rio Grande floodplain by Monte Vista (1974); Saguache Co, upper Saguache Ranger Station (1916), NE or Hooper (1997), Coolbroth Canyon (2003), and Medano Creek (1981). BONAP shows C. album in Costilla and Alamosa counties, with no vouchers in SEINet. Note that in the Watershed the seed (smooth) is required for sure determination, in part to separate it from the very common Chenopodium berlandieri (seed pitted). Around the USA lambsquarter is the most familiar of Chenopidium species and is present in all states. It follows the Rio Grande drainage down to the Gulf of Mexico. Note that seeds from USA archaeological sites have been determined C. albumto be older than the first European settlement. For more photos and comments, click "yes" on the Annotation field below.
