Foxtail picklegrass grows on the banks of lakes, ponds, and rivers. Introduced from Mediterrean countries, Sporobolus except for Arizona. The 2025 occurrence from the bank of the Rio Grande (Costilla Co) is the first and only one from the Watershed. The species is present in only a few counties of New Mexico, and does not follow the Rio Grande drainage.
