- Anders Hasting Conejos Co by Rio Grande 13 July 2025
- Comments
- Rice cutgras is present in every state of the USA, including Colorado, but until this very recent occurrence in Conejos Co (2025), it has not been observed in the Watershed. Perhaps this is an early floral sign of the warming temperatures in the Valley. Leersia oryzoides enjoys wet habitats such bogs and stream sides, sometimes found growing in standing water. The species is native to the USA and Canada, as well as much of the boreal Old World. The specific name means "rice-like."
