- NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. The only voucher for smooth crabgrass from the Watershed was collected by Hobey Dixon from a garden at Adams State College in 1988. More than other species of crabgrass that have been introduced into the USA, Digitaria ischaemum tends to invade the edges of lawns, to the irritation of lawn owners. The species is probably more common in the Watershed than this single record suggests. The more common species of Digitaria in Colorado, D. sanguinalis, has not yet been vouchered from the Watershed, but is probably present there as well. Digitaria ischaemum has been recorded from every state of the USA, but it is not present in the Rio Grande drainage of Texas.
