- NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. Two-tipped sedge (Carex lachenalii) has been vouchered from three locations in the Watershed: east of the Great Sand Dunes in the wooded Medano Canyon of the Sangre de Cristos (Saguache Co, 1975), near Lily Pond (Conejos Co, 1992), and two miles west of Silver Lakes (Conejos Co, 1980). All these vouchers were collected by Hobey Dixon, and the determinations are not accepted by Ackerfield (2022) or BONAP (2025). Carex lachenalii, however, has been found in the alpine of Taos Co, New Mexico, bordering the Watershed. In the lower USA, the species ranges up the Rockies from there through Colorado, Wyoming, and western Montana to the Canadian border.
