NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. Hair-like sedge (Carex capillaris) has been recorded from only one location in the Watershed, more than a century ago: by a rill in Wagon Wheel Gap (Mineral Co, 1911). Although that area has been well canvassed by botanists since, the species has not been recorded from there. In the lower USA, Carex capillaris ranges up and down the Rockies and the Intermountain region, with uncommon occurrences just south of the Canadian border from North Dakota to Maine. In New Mexico the species is fairly wide spread in the Sangre de Cristos and has also been recorded in the Sacramento Mountains. It does not follow the Rio Grande drainage any farther south.
