- NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. Cliff sedge (Carex scopulorum) has been recorded many times from the high country of the South San Juans, especialy in eastern Conejos Co, and a number of times from the subalpine and tundra around Mt. Blanca in the North Sangre de Cristos (Alamosa Co) and southeast of San Luis in the Culebras (Costilla Co). The typical habitat is rill sides and wet meadows of the tundra. In the lower USA, Carex scopulorum is present in similar terrain in all Western states except for Arizona. In New Mexico, the species is present in only Rio Arriba and Taos counties and does not follow the Rio Grande drainage any farther south.
