- NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. Nebraska sedge has been vouchered less than a dozen times, mostly from the foothills, shrublands, and montane stream sides of the eastern ranges. Carex nebrascensis tolerates alkaline substrate and seasonal flooding. It also adapts to grazed and over-grazed pastures. Its distribution in the lower USA is all Western states and upper western Great Plains. The species follows the Rio Grande drainage through the northern half of New Mexico, but does not enter Texas.
