- NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. Douglas's sedge has been recorded often from the Watershed at lower elevations, beside streams and in mesic meadows. Carex douglasii seems to adapt to disturbed ground, and for instance has been found beside roads, in old pastures, and in a picnic area in the Great Sand Dunes NNP (Alamosa Co, 1996). The USA distribution is all Western states, with scattered locations in the northern Great Plains. The species follows the Rio Grande drainage only two counties into New Mexico, no farther down stream.
