- NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. Northern sedge has been vouchered from only one location in the Watershed: on the east side of Lake Humphreys, Humphreys Ranch southeast of Wagon Wheel Gap (Mineral Co, 2014). The habitat was a densely shaded rivulet from a spring near the lake shore. Ackerfield (2020) seems to accept this determination, but BONAP does not, apparently assigning the two specimens from that location to Carex rossii. POWO shows a USA distribution for C. deflexa that covers all Western states except for Nevada, as well as Great Lakes and New England states. POWO also shows no occurrences in New Mexico or Texas, suggesting that the Mineral county location is the only one in the entire Rio Grande drainage.
