- NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. From the Watershed, vouchers for brownish sedge have been submitted for only two locations: Perry Creek "1.0 km upstream from the wrecked biplane" (Saguache Co, 198), and the outlet creek for Tucker Ponds (Mineral Co, 1978). Carex brunnescens is a variable and successful species, with circumboreal presence. In the USA, its distribution follows a pattern typical of many sedges: the Rockies up to the Canadian border, and across the northern third of the country to Maine, with an extension down the Appalachians. Except for a few locations in Sandoval Co, New Mexico, the Watershed occurrences would constitute the only ones, so far, in the Rio Grande drainage.
