- NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. From the Watershed only one voucher exists of white cottongrass: in sandy soil of analpine bog by Wild Cherry Lake, San Isobel National Forest (Saguache Co, 1942). The determination of Eriophorum scheuchzeri is accepted by both Ackerfield (2022) and BONAP. The location is isolated, since most occurrences close to the Watershed are in the San Juan River drainage just west of the Continental Divide. The USA distribution covers just three states: Wyoming (where the species is uncommon), Colorado (in scattered locations down the central Rockies), and New Mexico (known only from Taos Co in high elevations of the Sangre de Cristos). World wide, E. scheuchzeru is found in Canada and Eurasia.
