- NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. Bog cotton has been vouchered from the Watershed fairly often, from all mountain ranges except for the South Sawatch. The habitat is higher elevation marshes, bogs, fens, and very wet meadows. A good example is by the ponds to the east of Elwood pass (Rio Grande Co, 1996). In the USA, Eriophorum angustifolium grows across the top third of the nation and down the Rockies through New Mexico. It is a northern hemisphere species world wide. It follows the Rio Grande drainage through New Mexico but not farther down stream into Texas.
