- NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. There is only one voucher for Engelmann's spikerush from the Watershed: along the Conejos River in "moist open ground' one and one half miles north of Antonito, collected by H. D. Harrington (Conejos Co, 1956). Ackerfield accepts this record but BONAP (2025) does not. There are scattered records for Eleocharis engelmannii in every state in the USA except for Nevada and Wyoming. The species follows the Rio Grande drainage through New Mexico "in a scattered way" (Allred et al., 2020) but not on into Texas.
