- NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. Remarkably, alkali bulrush has been vouchered from only a few locations in the Watrshed, all in Alamosa Co: the Alamosa Wildlife Refuge (1975), in the town of Alamosa (1952), the Blanca Wetlands (2015); there is also a Francis Ramaley collection just labeled "Alamosa" (1935). Bolboschoenus maritimus grows in salt and alkali marshes, and it is likely that this sedge was much more common in the Watershed basins before farming and pasturing drained most of them. The species has a world-wide presence, in Eurasian, Africa, and South America. In the USA, it is found in all stats except Wisconsin and the Deep South. It follows the Rio Grande drainage through New Mexico and Texas to the Gulf of Mexico.
