- NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. So far there is only two vouchered locations in the Watershed for the distinctive Weatherby's spikemoss: on the trail to Mosca pass about one quarter of a mile east of the Great Sand Dunes NPP (Alamosa Co, 1954), and south of Medano Creek on the east boundary of the Great Sand Dunes NPP (Saguache Co, 1998). Selaginella weatherbiana is uncommon throughout is USA range, which is restricted to the Front Range of Colorado, the locations in the Watershed, and the northern two tiers of counties of New Mexico, including Rio Arriba and Taos counties.
