- NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. So far there are only two recorded locations for common lady fern in the Watershed, both in the upper montane of the South San Juans: near Ruybalid Lake (Conejos Co, 1988) and near Buckles Lake (Archuleta Co, 1998). Athyrium cycloclosum, however, is quite common in all Western USA states. It follows the Rio Grande drainage solidly through New Mexico but no farther down stream. Note that the older name, Athyrium filix-femina, is now applied to Old World species.
