- NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. For northwestern moonwort there are only two Watershed locations, both from the South San Juans: Wolf Creek pass (Mineral Co, 1996) and the north side of Platoro Reservoir (Conejos Co, 1998). Both came from the disturbed ground of road cuts. The USA distribution is composed of widely isolated and uncommon occurrences in all Western states, with more common occurrences in the North Cascades and near the Canadian border in Idaho and Montana. Botrychium pinnatum is a New World species that ranges through Canada and Alaska into the Arctic. In New Mexico it follows the Rio Grande drainage through Colfax and Santa Fe counties but not farther down stream.
