- So far Mingan moonwort has been vouchered from only three Watershed locations: on Lobo Overlook at Wolf Creek pass (Mineral Co, 1995); just east of Alberta Peak (Mineral Co, 2009); around Vermejo Park Ranch (Costilla Co, 2008-2009). To that scant record can be added a photorecord: at the base of Grayback Mountain (Rio Grande Co, 2019). The habitat ranges from old roads and clear cuts to subalpine meadows. In the USA Botrychium minganense is found, uncommonly, in scattered locations in all Western states and around the Great Lakes. It follows the Rio Grande drainage down through New Mexico into Lincoln Co but no farther down stream. The specific epithets derives from the Mingan Islands of Quebec. This is a circumboreal species.
