- NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. Western moonwort has three documented locations in the Watershed: Wolf Creek pass (Mineral Co, 1998, 2008); south of Lookout Mountain (Conejos Co, 1991); and Vermejo Park Ranch (Costilla Co, 2008-2009). The habitat of Botrychium hesperium is often remains of clear cuts. The USA distribution consists of scattered locations through the Central Rockies, and isolated locations in Oregon (Blue Mountains), Utah, and Arizona. The species follows the Rio Grande drainage only through the northernmost counties of New Mexico.
