- NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. There are no SEINet records for slender wedgegrass in the Watershed, but BONAP indicates Conejos Co (2025). Sphenopholis intermedia grows in mesic, shaded ground (wet wooded slopes, near springs, etc.) at the montane level. Allred et al. (2020) say in New Mexico the species is known from only a few northern counties. The concentration of locations in the USA is the north Midwest and New England states but the species has been recorded from all states except California. Along with the few Rio Grande drainage locations in New Mexico, there is one in the Big Bend country of Texas (Brewester Co, 1939).
