- NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. According to SEINet vouchers, Mexican brome has been found several times in the Watershed: e.g., Wagon Wheel Gap (Mineral Co, 1990), near Spar City (Mineral Co, 1996), at the tree line near the Great Sand Dunes (Saguache Co, 2000). The typical habitat for Bromus anomalus is woodlands and mountain meadows. There is some discrepancy about the determination of this taxon, which affects shown distributions. Ackerfield (2022) does not include it among Colorado grasses, nor provide any synonyms. POWO, perhaps following Ackerfield, also does not show it present in Colorado. BONAP, however, indicates that it has been found in all Watershed counties. Allred et al. (2020) finds it present throughout the Rio Grande drainage of New Mexico, including Rio Arriba and Taos counties, bordering the Watershed. BONAP shows a USA distribution that includes Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, and Texas, where it follows the Rio Grande drainage down stream to include the Big Bend region.
