- NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. In the Watershed, longstyle rush has been recorded a fair number of times, from the Upper Basin, the North Cristos, the Garitas, and, most commonly, the South San Juans. The habitat ranges from wet meadows to stream sides to mesic montane forested slopes. Juncus longistylis is widely distributed in all Western states, and follows the Rio Grande drainage through New Mexico but not into Texas.
