- NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. In the Watershed, Drummond's rush has been collected a fair number of times, from all mountain ranges east and west. The majority of vouchers, however, come from the South San Juans. The most common habitat is near rivulets in mesic meadows at the subalpine and alpine zones. Juncus drummondii also has been collected near run-off in scree slopes. The species has been recorded in similar habitats from all Western USA states. It follows the Rio Grande drainage into only the northern two counties of New Mexico, mainly in the Cristos range.
