- NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. Naturalized rye has been recorded only once from the Watershed, in a montane meadow two miles southwest of Mcintyre Peak (28 miles west of Antonito, Conejos Co, 1986). Rye is cultivated in the San Luis Valley, and it has been used for revegetation projects. Probably this occurrence of Secale cereale did not persist, since the species needs cross-pollination to regenerate. In the USA, naturalized occurrences of the species have been recorded from all states. They follow the Rio Grande drainage through New Mexico but not into Texas.
