- NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. Blue wildrye has been recorded only a few times within the Watershed, all from the south San Juans. Examples are two miles ENE of Osier Peak (Conejos Co, 1986) and 13 air miles south of South Fork (Rio Grande Co, 2003). (The 1896 voucher from "Villa Grove" lacks an dependable location.) Typically the habitat of Elymus glaucus is open montane conifer forest or meadow. Note that there are many recorded occurrences just west of the Watershed in the San Juan River drainage. E. glaucus is a very common grass in all Western USA states, and follows the Rio Grande drainage through New Mexico but not into Texas.
