- NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. Pine needlegrass has been vouchered from the Watershed seven times so far. The habitat, on both sides of the Valley, rather varied, ranges from grassland slopes to mixed conifer in the montane. Note that Eriocoma pinetorum (formerly Achnatherum pinetorum) requires magnification of the lemma to distinguish it from E. lettermanii. These few Watershed locations lie at the extreme southeast corner of the USA distribution, which is scattered occurrences in the Intermountain region and middle Rockies. The locations are the only ones in the entire Rio Grande drainage.
