- NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. Pale false mannagrass has been vouchered seven times from the Watershed, but some of the determinations are dubious, especially those from low elevations (e.g., Hansen Ranch, Alamosa Co, 1986). Shaw (2008) says Torreyochlea pallida is found in Colorado "in subalpine communities along pond margins," and shows only Mineral and Conejos counties. That would fit only one voucher from the Watershed, Wolf Creek pass (Mineral Co, 1936). The USA distribution is split: all Western states, and Great Lakes and New England states. The species follows the Rio Grande drainage one third of the way into New Mexico, no farther down stream. In New Mexico, Allred et al. (2020) locate T. pallida around high-mountain streams and ponds, where it is "eagerly grazed by elk."
