- NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. Wheeler's bluegrass has been vouchered only once from the Watershed, by Brian Elliott on the road to Mosquito Lake west of Villa Grove at an elevation of 10,700' (Saguache Co, 1998). Poa wheeleri is found at higher elevations (montane to subalpine) in woods and meadows rather commonly in all Western states. It is recorded, uncommonly, from only two New Mexico Rio Grande drainage counties bordering the Watershed, but no farther down stream. So the Watershed location is at the southeastern corner of the USA distribution.
