- NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. In the Watershed Tracy's bluegrass has been vouchered only once, by Per Axel Rydberg at the headwaters of Sangre de Cristo Creek (Costilla Co, 1900). According to Shaw (2008), Poa tracyi grows in forest openings from the montane to subalpine. Allred et al. (2020) add that it prefers rich conifer humus and moist soil. The species has been recorded only from Colorado and New Mexico, where it follows the Rio Grande drainage to the border with Mexico but no farther down stream.
