- NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. There are only two vouchered locations for King's festuca: Flat Top butte in the San Luis Hills (Conejos Co, 1986), and "Saguache Park" somewhere southwest of the town of Saguache (Saguache Co, 1987). Festuca kingii [Leucopoa kingii] grows on rocky slopes and under Ponderosa pine. These two vouchers mark the only recorded occurrences in the Rio Grande drainage, if we respect Allred et al. (2020) and BONAP (2025). The USA distribution centers in Nevada, Utah, southeast Idaho, and Wyoming, with scattered locations in Colorado.
