Comments
Orchard grass, an exotic, was sometimes planted as a pasture grass. Perennial and cool-season, Dactylis glomerata is usually found along road sides and other ruderal places. In the Watershed, voucher locations are all on the western side of the Valley, with the exception of La Veta pass (Costilla Co, 1896). The species has been recorded from every state of the nation. It follows the Rio Grande drainage in New Mexico from north to south but no farther down stream. Note that when this species dries—from drought or collection—the leaves twist, which can mislead efforts at determination.
