- NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. The native alpine foxtail has been vouchered from only two Watershed locations in the south San Juans: near the headwaters of Parry Creek (Saguache Co, 1984), and on a ridge west of West San Francisco Creek (Rio Grande Co, 1984). These two locations may be the farthest south in the USA distribution of Alopecurus megellanicus, which consists of scattered occurrences in Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, and Colorado. The Watershed locations are the only ones in the entire Rio Grande drainage.
