NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. The introduced water foxtail has only three recorded locations, all in the south San Juans. Alopecurus geniculatus is a higher elevation foxtail, growing on mesic slopes. In the USA, observations are scattered through all Western states and across the northern third of the nation. A. geniculatus enters New Mexico in the Rio Grande drainage only in Taos Co, no farther down stream.
