NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. Mountain bentgrass has been vouchered only five times from the Watershed, all in the subalpine: e.g., Elwood Pass (Rio Grande Co, 1950); southeast of Cerro Liso Mountain (Costilla Co, 1987). Agrostis variabilis seems to prefer high altitude mesic slopes. The USA distribution is scattered locations is all Western states except for Arizona. It follows the Rio Grande drainage only two counties into New Mexico, where it is uncommon.
