- NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. Idaho bentgrass has been vouchered sparingly from both sides of the Valley. Usually Agrostis idahoensis is found in moist subalpine slopes but sometimes also abundantly in tundra talus slopes; e.g., Simmons Peak (Saguache Co, 2023). Note that the taxon is not easy to distinguish from Agrostis scabra and A. variabilis, with which it may hybridize, both species also present in the Watershed, and vouchers may be suspect. The USA distribution of A. idahoensis is all Western states. It follows the Rio Grande drainage halfway into New Mexico, with few collections there.
