- NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. There are only two vouchers for Richardson's brome from the Watershed, one found at the summit of Wolf Creek pass (Mineral Co, 1928), and one found east of there but lower in elevation, near Park Creek campground (Rio Grande Co, 1949). Shaw 2008, however, shows the presence of Bromus richardsonii in all Watershed counties. The species found in meadows and forest openings at the subalpine, occasionally montane. Along with other high elevation bromes, it provides good forage. The center of the USA distribution is eastern Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Arizona, and New Mexico. The species follows the Rio Grande drainage through all of New Mexico, but enters only two counties of Texas, at the western tip.
