- NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. Woolly brome has been vouchered a dozen or so times, all from the foothills and montane of the west-side ranges. BONAP (2025), however, also shows Costilla Co. Bromus lanatipes is often found along road sides and hiking trails. The species is more common in the Rockies and western slopes of Colorado than in the Watershed. The USA distribution is fairly restricted, centered in Arizona, Colorado, and New Mexico, where is follows the Rio Grande drainage to the Mexican border and on through the Big Bend region of Texas. Note that distinguishing B. lanatipes from other bromes can be difficult.
