- NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. Weeping brome has been recorded only once from the Watershed, about four miles southeast of Spar City (Mineral Co, 1996). Apparently this record is accepted by Shaw (2008), who also adds Costilla Co. Bromus frondosus prefers higher elevations, rocky slopes and forest openings. It has a restricted USA distribution, basically Arizona and New Mexico, with scattered locations in the Rockies of Colorado. It follows the Rio Grande drainage from the Colorado border to the Mexican, but does not extend farther down stream.
