- NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. The presence of Sporobolus texanus in the Watershed rests on one voucher, collected at the top of Wolf Creek pass (Mineral Co) in 1935. Shaw (2008) seems to have accepted this record, and William Weber confirmed the determination in 1974 with an exclamation point. Given its location, the occurrence may have been ephemeral, seed brought in by vehicle. S. texanus is usually a low elevation plant. Throughout its USA range, Texas dropseed is not common: Utah, Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas. The species follows, sporadically, the Rio Grande drainage through New Mexico on into Texas down nearly to the Gulf of Mexico.
