- NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. Recorded locations in the Watershed show sand dropseed following highways: Hwy 160 from Fort Garland (Costilla Co) to Del Norte (Rio Grande Co); Hwy 17 from the town of Alamosa (Alamosa Co) to the base of Poncha pass (Saguache Co); and Hwy 114 from the town of Saguache (Saguache Co) west. The map suggests the use of Sporobolus cryptandrus in roadside stabilization and revegetation. The species is native, however, and quite common in the desert Southwest, as well as New Mexico, where it has been documented from every county. It follows the Rio Grande drainage down into the Big Bend region of Texas.
