- NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. In the Watershed, slimstem reedgrass is fairly common in wet areas of the Upper and Lower Basins. It also has been vouchered from the montane and subalpineāe.g., around Creede (Mineral Co) and Elwood Pass (Rio Grande Co). Muhlenbergia stricta tolerates salt substrates and is collected from alkali and calcareous habitats. The USA distribution is extensive, covering all northern states from the Pacific to the Atlantic, and all Southwestern states. However, the species follows the Rio Grande only a couple of counties into New Mexico.
