- In the Watershed green muhly has been vouchered only once: in the flood-plain of the Rio Grande behind the Adams State College baseball field (Alamosa Co, 1991). Is this the correct determination, and if so was the plant ephemeral? Muhlenbergia racemosa occupies a range of habitats, including stream banks. In the USA, M. racemos has been recorded from the majority of states, with wide-spread distribution in the desert Southwest, the Intermountain region, the Rockies, the Great Plains, and the Mid-West. It follows the Rio Grande drainage through New Mexico to the very southwestern tip of Texas, no farther down stream
