- In the Watershed green muhly has been vouchered only once: in the flood-plain of the Rio Grande behind the Adams State College baseball field (Alamosa Co, 1991). Is this the correct determination, and if so was the plant ephemeral? Muhlenbergia racemosa, perennial and warm-season, occupies a range of habitats, including stream banks. In the USA, M. racemos has been recorded from the majority of states, with wide-spread distribution in the desert Southwest, the Intermountain region, the Rockies, the Great Plains, and the Mid-West. It follows the Rio Grande drainage through New Mexico to the very southwestern tip of Texas, no farther down stream
