- There is one Watershed observation of Papaver orientale, a little colony escaped and persisting near an old trailer home southwest of Del Norte, at the end of Castle Rock Creek Road, elevation 8,900', 23 June 2018 (Rio Grande Co; iNaturalist observation #13723114). According to BONAP, escapes have been recorded from Washington State, Montana, Utah, Colorado, Louisiana, and other states in the Great Lakes and Northeast regions. The Rio Grande occurrence would be the only one from the entire Rio Grande drainage.
