- YES Cassidy Johnson: Rio Grande Co, 2.5 air miles southwest of South Fork, 4 April 2024
- Comments
- While extremely common from the Rockies eastward, Solidago nemoralis has been recorded only once from the Watershed. Cassidy Johnson photographed field goldenrod on 30 July 2021 along the Beaver Mountain trail, 2.5 air miles southwest of South Fork (Rio Grande Co): iNaturalist observation #89361608. Note that the species is wildfire resistant, and that part of that trail southwest of South Fork was burned during the Million wildfire of 1922. More occurrences of field goldenrod should be expected in the Watershed, since it has been recorded from all of the Rio Grande drainage counties in New Mexico that border Colorado; as well as from several Colorado counties that lie just outside the Watershed, namely Archuleta, Gunnison, and Custer. In New Mexico, the species follows the Rio Grande drainage down to Lincoln Co. It has also been recorded from south Texas counties in the drainage beyond the Big Bend region.
