- Boechera centrifendleri is an asexual diploid hybrid of Boechera fendleri and Boechera gracilipes. It was first described by Patrick J. Alexander in 2015, so there probably are a number of earlier vouchers from the Watershed mis-determined as "Boechera fendleri." So far there are only three records identified as B. centrifendleri from the Watershed: Aspen Glade cpgd (Conejos Co, 2008); 9 km southwest of Capulin (Conejos Co, 2021, iNaturalist #81942743); and near Bonanza (Saguache Co, 2023). In New Mexico, the species follows the Rio Grande drainage from the Colorado border to Lincoln Co. For collectors who don't have the means to observe the unevenly shaped pollen, one useful clue in the field is the plant's single stem rising from the middle of the basal rosette, contrasting with the multiple stems of B. fendleri (hence "centrifendler"). Some specimens of B. centrifendleri, it should be emphasized, do have multiple stems. Currently (Nov 2024) FNA and BONAP do not yet recognize this taxon, and POWO says it is a synonym of Boechera perennans subsp. centrifendleri. Here POWO follows the recent renaming of the B. fendleri complex (Windham, M. D., K. Pryer, and L. Allphin, 2022).
