- NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. There are only two Watershed vouchered locations for Wright's lotus: Embargo Creek north of South Fork (Rio Grande Co), and Wagon Wheel Gap (Mineral Co). The locations and habitats fit this shrub lotus, whose Colorado distribution is mainly in the west slope of the southwest quarter of the state. BONAP shows a USA distribution for Acmispon wrightii that covers nearly all of Arizona, the southeast corner of Utah, the southwest corner of Colorado, and the western two-thirds of New Mexico. The species follows the Rio Grande drainage to the Texas border but not beyond. Note that the many generic names reflect the original polyphyletic nature of the old genus Lotus.
