- There is only one record of Solidago pallida from the Watershed, a plant found by Ron Hartman in 1998 near Hayden Pass Creek in the North Cristos, about 5 miles ENE of Villa Grove at 9,000-9,600' elevation (Saguache Co). Two other vouchers, however, are recorded from Archuleta and Mineral counties, just west of the Watershed boundary. Note that Hartman, FNA, and Ackerfield (2022) treat this taxon as Solidago speciosa var. pallida. Allred et al. (2020) and BONAP (2023) give it species status. BONAP shows the distribution of S. pallida as widely scattered locations running down the Front Range from South Dakota, Wyoming, and Colorado, into New Mexico, with some observations from the Rio Grande drainage in northern New Mexico. BONAP shows the distribution of S. speciosa as starting from the central Great Plains and extending solidly to the east coast, with no overlap with S. pallida.
