- NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. Yellow willow (Salix lutea) has been recorded from two Watershed counties, Rio Grande (Jasper, 1983, Hobey Dixon coll) and Conejos (presence there verified by Kittel 2032, p. 150 but no location or date given). Ackerfield (2022) shows no presence of S. lutea in the Watershed, but there are many observations from the Front Range and from the west slope of the Rockies in Colorado (probably a nomenclatural issue). The USA distribution of S. lutea, according to BONAP is basically the Great Basin. There are no records from New Mexico or farther down the Rio Grande drainage. Note that Kittel follows Robert Dorn in treating this taxon as S. eriocephala subsp. mackenzieana var. watsonii.
