NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. SEINet has five vouchers, labeled "Oxybaphus hirsutus" and "Mirabilus hirsuta." One is from east of La Jara Canyon, 6 miles SW of Capulin (Conejos Co, 2004); the other four from La Baca National Wildlife Refuge (Saguache Co, 2006-2012). Ackerfield (2022) seems to treat these as "Mirabilis hirsuta," but that is a taxon that FNA and BONAP treat as Mirabilis albida (Walter) Heimerl. On the delimitation of M. albida, the experts disagree. BONAP shows M. albida as a Great Plains plant, present from the Canadian border down through all of Texas, but nowhere in New Mexico. Allred et al. (2020) show M. albida in nearly every county of New Mexico. FNA indicates the broadest USA range of all for M. albida, from Utah and Arizona east through Kentucky, Mississippi, Minnesota, Illinois, and Indiana. In short, there is little agreement on the breadth of the taxon. Currently the SEINet vouchers from the Watershed are lost in this fog of nomenclature.
